Members and roles

Musterly uses roles for permissions and sites for location access. A member needs both the right permission and access to the relevant site.

Invite a member

  1. Open Settings → Members.
  2. Select Invite member.
  3. Enter their email address.
  4. Choose a role.
  5. Choose the sites they should be able to access.
  6. Send the invitation.

Pending invitations remain under Members until accepted or revoked.

Change a member

Select a member to change their role or site access. Removing a site means data from that location no longer appears for them.

Remove a member when they should no longer have access to the workspace. This does not remove their UniFi Access person record from People; workspace members and access-control people are separate.

Default roles

New workspaces include:

  • Org Admin — full operational and workspace administration access
  • Ops — day-to-day access to presence, roll calls, attendance, people, doors and visitor history
  • Installer — temporary, site-limited access to Runner and connector setup

Administrators can change roles, so the exact permissions in your workspace may differ.

Create a custom role

  1. Open Settings → Roles.
  2. Select Create role.
  3. Give it a clear name and description.
  4. Select only the permissions needed for the job.
  5. Save the role, then assign it from Members.

Keep operational viewing permissions separate from administration where possible. For example, someone can run a roll call without being allowed to change integrations or billing.

Temporary installer access

Use Hand off to IT in the Setup Centre when someone only needs to connect one site. Installer invitations expire after seven days. Once accepted, access lasts 14 days unless an administrator extends or revokes it.

See IT handoff for the full process.
