Getting started
You can create the workspace yourself and ask IT to handle the network connection later. Musterly keeps the setup steps in the Setup Centre so both sides can see what is left to do.
Before you start
You will need:
- a UniFi Access controller
- an API token that can read Access devices and events
- a Windows or Linux machine that stays on and can reach the controller
- administrator access to the Musterly workspace
The always-on machine can be a small server, NAS or dedicated PC. Do not use a laptop that leaves the building or sleeps regularly.
Set up the workspace
- Create the workspace and first site.
- Open the Setup Centre and choose Set it up myself, Hand off to IT, or Do this later.
- Install and pair the Runner on the always-on machine.
- Connect UniFi Access.
- Wait for Musterly to confirm the first sync.
- Use a real credential at a connected external door.
- Check the person, door, direction and time shown in the Setup Centre, then select Confirm event and finish setup.
Musterly checks each step for you. You do not tick the checklist manually.
If IT is doing the connection
Choose Hand off to IT and invite the installer for the site they need. They get access to Runner and UniFi Access setup, not billing or the rest of the workspace. See IT handoff.
Trial timing
You have up to 30 days to make the first connection. The 14-day product trial starts when the first UniFi sync succeeds, or when the 30-day setup period ends.
See Setup window and trial for details.
After setup
Classify the doors before you rely on occupancy. In particular, change room-to-room doors from the default External setting to Internal. Read How presence works and Doors.
