How presence works
Musterly builds its live list from access events sent by UniFi Access. An entry at an external door marks a person as in. An exit marks them as out.
That makes door setup important. Go to Doors and check each door before you rely on the live count.

New doors start as External. If an internal door is left as external, walking between rooms can incorrectly mark someone in or out.
What the live list can and cannot tell you
Who’s In is the latest known state from received badge events. It is not a people counter and it does not detect:
- someone following another person through a door
- a person leaving without badging out
- a door event that UniFi did not record
- activity while the Runner or UniFi Access was unavailable
Use the list as the starting point for a roll call, then account for people directly.
Daily reset
Each UniFi connector has a presence reset time. The reset prevents an old entry from leaving someone on the live list indefinitely. Choose a time when the building is normally empty. You can change it in Settings → Integrations by editing the connector.
If the count looks wrong
- Open Doors and check the classification of the door involved.
- Open the person’s details and review their recent door events.
- Check that the correct site is selected.
- If events are missing, check Settings → Integrations and follow Troubleshooting.
